SECTION 2 — INSTITUTIONAL HERITAGE

A Legacy Rooted in Filipino Enterprise

Founded on November 19, 1934 at Club Filipino, NEPA was established during the crusade for national economic self-reliance. With more than nine decades of institutional history, NEPA approaches its 92nd anniversary on November 19, 2026, continuing to champion Filipino-made products and local industries.

1934 — Historic Founding

"Ours First, Yours Later" & Club Filipino

Following the Rizal Day Manifesto by the Chamber of Commerce, founders including Salvador Araneta, Leopoldo Aguinaldo, Gonzalo Puyat, and Antonio Brias formally established NEPA to promote economic protectionism and patronage of local products.

1950s — Industrial Drive & "Filipino First"

Pioneering Industrial Transformation

Under Senator Gil J. Puyat, NEPA led the post-war industrial expansion, giving rise to the Home Industries Association, Filipino Inventors Society, and aligning with President Carlos P. Garcia's historic "Filipino First" policy.

1980s-1990s — Economic Independence & NEPA Manifesto

Capitalism & Nationalism: The Missing Partnership

NEPA organized historic conferences on economic independence and adopted the 1992 Manifesto, advocating for all-out industrialization based on Economic Filipinism.

21st Century & Beyond — Enterprise Continuity

Advancing Filipino Enterprise Toward 2026

NEPA maintains its enduring advocacy for local producers and enterprises. As the association approaches its 92nd anniversary on November 19, 2026, the proposed NEPA Week 2026 campaign envisions a renewed platform for economic dialogue, subject to leadership review.
